Tagged

My friend Lauren tagged me to do this post, so here goes!

*Choose 7 spectacular blogs that you can't live without and pass this goodie on to the them.

AND...

*List 10 honest things about yourself.

1. I'm planning to cloth diaper Levi and just started to cloth diaper Colt. I'm not trying to save any landfills, but I do feel like the lack of chemicals in cloth diapers will be best for my kids bottoms. Plus, cloth diapered kiddos are supposed to potty train WAY earlier than disposable diapered kids and it's cheaper than disposables! (Don't worry, I'm using a diaper service for the next 3 months, so I don't have to wash the diapers till I'm more used to the process.)

2. I bought a bag of Oreos 3 days ago, and they are gone. Yep, I ate every single one, except for one that I shared with Colt! I swear I should never buy Oreos again.

3. I'd go back to college in a heartbeat. I loved the fun I had with no real responsibility and I was in the best shape of my life.

4. I love my in-laws. They are absolutely wonderful and I am truly blessed!

5. I've won my Fantasy baseball league 2 years in a row. I love baseball and good competition, so watch out this year, team :)

6. I have weird dreams when I'm pregnant. Dreams about all sorts of things. I guess this is normal during pregnancy, but I'm kinda ready to return to normal :)

7. My husband calls me a certified hippy. Guess you could've gleaned that from #1 above, but I also choose to eat organic foods, want to grow my own garden, use safe cleaning products, use my recycled bags at the grocery, and am looking to purchase a composter and rainbarrel in the near future.

8. I had Colt via c-section due to silly Florida rules, but am planning to have Levi via VBAC. Please pray for a safe delivery for both of us.

9. I'm planning to run a marathon at the end of 2009. It'll be how I'll hopefully get my 35 lbs of baby weight off!

10. I was born in England and love to drink hot tea with cream and sugar. And I love Cadbury eggs at Easter... yum!

Due Date...

So today is Levi's due date. No action so far! I went on a 3 mile walk this morning, trying to get labor started. Will probably go on another one when Ty gets home from work. Last weekend, I was pretty anxious and ready for Levi's arrival. Colt was 6 days early, so I guess I expected that Levi would be early too. But God had other plans! Colt ended up having minor bronchitis last weekend, then was well for a few days before he came down with vomiting and fever this week. Good thing Levi didn't show up - I'd hate to bring him home to a house with a sick kid! Anyway, at my 39 week appointment, the doc said I am dialated to 4cm, so at least I won't have as much work to do once my labor officially starts!

Sorry no pics - with Colt feeling under the weather, it was hard to take pics of a kid hanging all over me :)

38 week update

I am now actually 39 weeks, but at my 38 week appointment my stats hadn't changed much. The Dr. said I was probably 90% effaced and 3.5 cm dialated (although she said she was basically increasing my numbers to make the Grandma's happier!). In looking back at Colt's pregnancy, I stayed at 80% and 3 cms for 3 weeks! I know this probably isn't of much interest to any of you, so I'm pretty much just posting this so I can refer back if we get pregnant again.

Have a great weekend!

Manly Men

Colt was sick this weekend (temp of 103!), so we stayed home from church yesterday. He's MUCH better today, just in case you are wondering. Anyway, Ty decided to undertake a project in our backyard since the weather was so nice yesterday. We have two "forresty" areas in our backyard where Colt loves to play. But, they are so wooded, that Ty nor I can get back to him if he needs help. I usually end up bribing him to come out with a cookie! So, Ty set to work to clear the brush and remove a few dead trees at the same time. He finally called Cody in the afternoon to ask for some help, so the brothers set off to work.

He wanted to do it all by himself! Obviously he was feeling better at this point.

Levi's Nursery

The nursery is finally finished, well mostly. I've ordered a wall decal that says, "The Lord Delights in You" but it's not here yet. Anyway, here are the pictures. We went with a jungle theme that can easily be changed when Levi gets a little older. I made the crib skirt and valance in an attempt to be crafty. We bought all of the furniture off of Craigslist in our attempt to be thrifty.

This is the unfinished wall where the wall decal will go. Colt is throwing a tantrum on the floor because I won't let him climb in the baby swing.

I'm planning to paint Levi's name over the closet... maybe tomorrow.

Here's Colt trying to climb in the baby swing. He threw the baby doll out of the swing and onto the floor. Hope this isn't a preview of things to come!

Yesterday I went to a Ladies Bible Class at church. While we were doing our thing, the nursery workers made these cute little crafts with the kids. When I went to pick Colt up at the end of the morning, every one was snickering at his craft. I guess they tried and tried to get him to smile for the camera, but he just wasn't into it.Make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside?
Happy Valentines Day!

37 week update

I had my 37 week appointment today and all looks well. I've had low platelets for a few weeks, but the Dr. said my latest bloodwork shows that the level has risen, so now if I need another C-section (even though I'm trying not to) I will be able to have an epidural or spinal. I guess if my platelets remained low, they could only give me a local anesthetic. Also, she said that I'm 80% effaced and dialated to 3cm already. Although I really hesitate to post that result, because I don't want to get all of the grandparent's hopes up. (Remember last time, I held those numbers for a few weeks!). Anyway, Levi looks good and is heads down. I'm ready to go and just waiting in anticipation.
Also, today is the first day we started Colt on cloth diapers. They are supposed to help speed up potty training because he will be able to feel the wet sensation more than with disposable ones. I put the first one on him this afternoon, and he didn't mess in it. When we took it off at bedtime, he peed on the bathroom floor, then sat on his potty. Baby steps....

Baseball fever

Many of you know how much we love baseball. Actually, I must say my favorite thing about the Super Bowl is that it marks the END of NFL football (I can't stand it) and means Spring Training is right around the corner! About 2 weeks ago, Ty's alma matter had an alumni baseball game to raise money for a new field house. We treked to Houston to watch Ty, Cody and Dusty play baseball together on a frigid day. I don't know if Ty and his brothers have all 3 played a game together before, so it was fun to watch. Dusty was on the high school team (he's a Senior this year) and Ty and Cody on the alumni team, obviously. While the alumni team got smoked, they had fun anyway. Here are some pics from the game:
When Ty got up to bat, he hit one deep to Left Center. It actually hit the wall (and would've been a home run if it was just a few feet higher!). He tripped when he rounded 1st, which was hilarious, so he only made it a double. This is Ty hitting during the homerun derby and his slide into 2nd base.

So our first baseball game of the year was a big success. It was fun to get the whole Dishman family together, as it had been several months. And in anticipation of this spring, all I can say is, "Play Ball!"
