Night waking

Here's a link where the strip is easier to read...

I found this comic strip... I think it portrays how I am feeling about the upcoming weaning process. I'm planning to nurse Colt for his first year, but then Ty and I would like to take a vacation (just the 2 of us) and I figure I'll need to have Colt weaned by then. This is also one of the reasons why I still get up in the middle of the night to feed Colt, even though he physically doesn't really need to eat in the middle of the night anymore. It is just such a special time... one of my favorite's with him actually. My plan is to cut out his middle of the night feeding in 2 weeks.... sob!

oh charis, this is a hard one. I nursed Elijah for 13 months. At the beginning, it was so hard going every 2 hours. I didn't think I'd make it to the 3 month mark! But I grew to treasure those times. When I weaned Elijah, I was really sad for a while. It was probably one of the first milestones where I truly began to understand parenting and my role in his life. I spent some time journaling about it that night - I'd really love to email that entry to you if you don't mind giving me your email address. It was meaningful for me to spend some time reflecting during that transition, and maybe it would be meaningful to you, too.

Since that time, I have experienced many of those milestones that shows they are growing up and getting more independent, and I am slowly learning to celebrate rather than dread them. every day, our children are becoming more the person God wants them to be! And it's amazing we get to be on that journey with them.

I know you and Ty will do great!
