Colt's 2nd birthday

Last week we celebrated Colt's 2nd birthday with a Construction themed party. Several of his friends came and celebrated with him. I planned the party for 10am on Wednesday, play date style, since all of us moms are looking for summer activities to do with our kids. When the guests arrived, we had a station set up for them to claim their hard hat and decorate it with stickers. They also received a nail apron in which to place their plastic hammer.
The party was planned for our backyard. We had the sandbox ready to go with bulldozers and excavators, the swimming pool inflated, sprinkler in full effect, bubble blower sputtering out bubbles, and backyard toys. Considering it's been in the 100s for weeks, we thought the water games would be a nice relief from the weather. What do you know, God actually decided to bless us with RAIN on the day of Colt's party! It all worked out fine, and the kids were able to play outside for an hour before the sprinkles turned to rain drops and we moved the party inside.

The kids ate brown bag lunches on their construction work break. Then came time for cake and ice cream. Yum!
Colt ate his ice cream with his hands. He was MUCH cleaner after cake this year than last!

Uncle Dusty was the life of the party.

We had many helpers during gift opening time. I love it! Thanks to everyone who came to celebrate with us. We are blessed to have such wonderful friends and family! Happy Birthday Colt!
