Abilene, Abilene, Prettiest town I've ever seen

Two weeks ago, Colt and I took a trip to Abilene to visit my family. We had a great visit! Here is a recap in pictures.
We went to my brother's softball game. Andrew and his girlfriend, Amy.

We also ate at Cajun Cones, saw my friend Beth, took cover from a tornado in the Ad building, ate at the Poly Sci dept picnic, and shopped at the ACU bookstore. Lots of fun in Abilene. I had a great time with you all and look forward to seeing yall soon!

Night waking

Here's a link where the strip is easier to read... http://www.babyblues.com/IMAGES/2000/001127.gif

I found this comic strip... I think it portrays how I am feeling about the upcoming weaning process. I'm planning to nurse Colt for his first year, but then Ty and I would like to take a vacation (just the 2 of us) and I figure I'll need to have Colt weaned by then. This is also one of the reasons why I still get up in the middle of the night to feed Colt, even though he physically doesn't really need to eat in the middle of the night anymore. It is just such a special time... one of my favorite's with him actually. My plan is to cut out his middle of the night feeding in 2 weeks.... sob!

Sink or Swim

2 weeks ago we began swim lessons at the YMCA. Colt really hated it the first week, but this past week he has started to loosen up a bit. We've been going swimming almost daily so he can get used to the water. On Saturday we went as a family, so here are some pics from the day.

On Thursday, my friend Kristel invited Colt and I to a Rays baseball game. Her husband works for the team and got us AWESOME tickets. We were SO close to the players, right behind the plate. Check out some pics I took, and I didn't even have to use the zoom :)

We LOVE our neighborhood! We have awesome neighbors and we love hanging out with them. Over spring break they had a pancake breakfast for all the kids in one family's driveway and everyone went to the beach another day. My next door neighbor always brings out tons of toys in her yard and we all sit around talking as our kids play together. I could go on about our neighborhood, but instead I'll post some pics of Colt playing in the yard. He loves tunnels and eating leaves - yum! Also, Colt has finally started to say "DaDa" and "MaMa" and loves to sing. We just eat it up! He's also getting really independent and we think he is really close to standing alone. Yikes! That means walking is right around the corner. Watch out world!

Happy Easter!

Today we celebrated the resurrection of Jesus in sunny Florida!

Philippians 3:10-12 - I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead. Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

This past week my dad and Jennifer visited. We had a blast and Colt loved seeing his grandparents.

Getting to Know You

Just thought I'd post a few random things about me. Enjoy!

I love Bath Junkie! This is a great store where you can create your own soaps and lotions, from the actual product, to the scent and the color!

My husband calls me a hippie because I buy organic when possible, especially milk and produce.

I'm trying to read through the Bible with Colt in his 1st year. We've finished the New Testament and are now on Deuteronomy, about to start Joshua. Guess I better hurry up as he turns 1 in July!

I don't like scary movies. Give me comedy, romance or drama and I'll gladly watch.

I've really been into cooking lately. Whenever I ask Ty what his favorite meal is, he says, "I don't know, you never make the same thing twice." If you know any good recipes, send them my way!

I love Hob Nobs. They are British cookies that they sell in the international section at the grocery store. When I lived in England I used to eat them all the time!

My favorite Bible verse currently is Jeremiah 29:11 - "For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you a hope and a future." What an awesome God we serve! It's SO freeing to know that since I've commited my life to follow Jesus Christ, that He will meet all of my needs and give me a future that I don't have to fear.
I didn't keep my New Year's Resolution to eat less sugar. I spent the whole month of January eating all of the junk food remaining in my pantry (it was tempting me every day!), with the intent to start over in February, but then I lost all my resolve.
I prefer "homemade" popcorn to microwave popcorn. It is delicious and you can add REAL butter, not the imitation stuff found on most bagged popcorns.

I love Cadbury eggs. My sophmore year of college I spent a semester in England. I actually got to tour the Cadbury factory and then proceeded to buy 75 Cadbury eggs in the gift shop (they came in bags of 25). Needless to say, I got burned out on Cadbury eggs by the time the semester was over. However, Ty bought me an egg the other day and I must say I loved it with a renewed passion :)

So, I know it's been a while since I've posted, so here's a recap of what we've been up to:
Colt was pretty sick for about a week, but fortunately that has passed. He was a trooper through it all and even participated well with the breathing treatments the doctor prescribed him!
It is spring training in Florida so baseball fever has hit the Dishman household. Ty went to several games last week and we are going to see the Phillies vs. Red Sox tomorrow for my birthday! Here's a cute pic of Ty and Colt at Colt's first spring training game. He even got his first foul ball thrown to him.

Colt has also welcomed the presence of his first 2 teeth! They are right on the bottom center. You can kinda see his teeth in the next pic:

Since he's been teething, he is putting everything in his mouth. Including sucking on door hinges and the hardware of the entertainment center...

Since Colt has become a speedster at crawling, he makes a bee-line for Molly's water bowl and enjoys playing in it. Molly doesn't seem to mind as Colt is the one who pays the most attention to her. Since Colt has started crawling, he is starting to thin out. When I took him to the doctor, he weighed 20lbs 3oz at 8 months.

Lastly, Colt received his first haircut today. I did it myself - yikes! If I do say so myself, it turned out pretty well for giving my first haircut ever. Especially to a squirmy baby! This is a before picture. I just trimmed the hair over his ears since he was looking really shaggy.

That's all for this week!

Diamonds are a girl's best friend!

So, DeBeers got sued for inflating the price of diamonds and now is giving money back to people who bought diamonds between 1994-2006. Since many of us were engaged during that time period, I thought this may be useful to you! Here is the link to an article about the whole saga: http://www.luxist.com/2008/01/11/is-your-diamond-eligible-for-a-refund/. In the article is a link to actually file a claim. Hurry, you must file before March 19th!
