One month tomorrow!

I can't believe that Colt is one month old tomorrow! The time has flown by. Despite feeling somewhat tired from time to time, it has been a great month. I've enjoyed spending time with Ty's mom, dad, and brother and my mom. This week, my dad, stepmom, brother, sister, and step sisters arrived, but now they are at Disney World for a few days and will be back here to see us for the weekend. Gotta say I'm jealous that I can't tag along at Disney!

We had our first outing to church and Ty and I took Colt to his first movie (License to Wed). Colt did really good at both events. He just started fussing at one point in the movie and had to leave (then he proceeded to spit up all over his dad) and he did great at church. The sermon was about "Do not worry" but the whole time I was worried about Colt crying in the middle of the sermon. Some lady's cell phone went off twice (during the scripture reading and the guy had to start over on reading it) so I wouldn't have felt too badly if Colt did start fussing. But I do think that next week I'll put Colt in the nursery. I was kinda worried about him catching germs from the other kids, but there were only 4 other kids in the nursery and 3 volunteers, so he probably wouldn't have been interacting with the other kids much.

I only have a few pics to post, b/c my family took most of the pictures with their cameras, which they now have with them at Disney World. I'll download the pics when they get back.

Aunt Abbey (age 10) decided to fix Ty's hair. What a good sport!

Colt has more hair than Uncle Andrew!

Week 3

Getting bigger
Who sleeps more... Colt or Ty?
We haven't been up to much this week, so I just decided to post a few pics. Ty and I had our first date night away from Colt while Granny Rae babysat. We went to Outback for steak, then came home again. We had fun, but it was hard to leave our son for the first time (although I'm sure it'll be much harder when we leave him with non-family)! My mom is still here and has made all my favorite meals (spinach quiche, Dr. Pendergrass cupcakes, Mexican chicken) ... yum!

Bang Bang

What goes into the naming of a grandparent?? Some names come by grandparent choice, others passed down from previous generations, some children assign names to the grandparent, and still others come by divine inspiration. In our case, the name came from our favorite dish at a seafood restaurant. When Ty's parents and Dusty were in town for Colt's birth, we recommended they eat at the Bonefish Grill and try our favorite appetizer, the Bang Bang shrimp. The next day at the hospital, Steve announced that he had discovered a better middle name for Colt than boring David. He thought Colt's middle name should be Bang Bang! He kept pushing the name Bang Bang, but Ty said, "Dad, we aren't going to call our son Bang Bang, but we'll call you that." Steve thought for a minute. "Perfect!" he exclaimed. He loved that the name is unique, out there, on the edge. It also has a baseball connotation of a "bang, bang double play." After 9 long, agonizing months of trying to come up with a grandparent name (we've been through PaPaw, Coach, and BooRod to name a few), we had arrived at the perfect name. Here's to you, Bang Bang!
This is what I do all day... sit around gazing at my son :)

Colt during bath time. It's his favorite time of the day!

My mom is still in town, spoiling me rotten. I think my recovery is going so well because she hardly lets me get off the couch! She waits on me hand and foot and is showing me a real example of a servant heart. I love you mom!

We're home!

See all his outfit changes... somehow they keep getting dirty!
Proud Mamaw

We have been home from the hospital for 5 days now and are getting adjusted to our new schedules. Sleep anyone?? Ty's mom was here until Friday and was SUCH a blessing to us. I think I only changed 3 diapers the entire time she was here! She would also help out at night when Colt was fussy and wanted to cuddle with someone. My mom came on Friday and has been cooking and cleaning up a storm! It's nice to have such wonderful women to help out and make sure Colt gets proper care and that I can recover without pushing myself too hard.

Colt is such a cutie pie (really, he is. I'm not just saying this as his mother) ... we enjoy watching all of his little faces and listening to his little voice. He doesn't cry very much, just when he needs something. The funniest thing to me was the first time I changed his poopy diaper and all of a sudden a little fountain of pee started spraying him in the face, soaking the changing table and his clothes. This has happened several times and I am trying to get better at covering this area of his body when changing diapers.

In other news, Ty's grandma, Meemaw, passed away on the 4th of July, the same day we came home from the hospital. She got to see pictures of Colt and listened to him crying over the phone before she passed. She was such a joyful woman and had a punny sense of humor which she always used to try to encourage others. Ty will be heading to Austin/Marble Falls on Friday for the memorial service. (He'll be at Grace on Sunday if any of you want to see him). Meem will be greatly missed!

Introducing Colt David Dishman!

Happy Birthday to Colt!! He was born July 1st at 10:43pm after 12 hours of labor and delivery! I actually ended up having to have a c-section because he didn't want to descend after 2 1/2 hours of pushing (without drugs, btw... talk about fun). But Colt is here and is a very healthy and happy baby! He weighed 7 lbs. 80z and is 20" long. Apgar scores were 8 and 9. I'm doing okay... but can tell that recovery will be lots of work - I didn't realize how many activities one uses their ab muscles for! We should go home from the hospital tomorrow (Wednesday). Here are a few pics of Colt and the family on his birthday. I'll post more later. Can't wait for yall to meet our precious little boy!
