Happy Halloween

Sorry I am posting a day late off my Tuesday goal, but I wanted to do a "photoshoot" with Colt and wasn't able to do it until this morning. However, the pictures turned out cute, so I hope it was worth the wait. I'll take more pictures tonight with his official halloween costume, so stay tuned for more pictures!

We went to a pumpkin patch to take family pictures, but when we got there all the pumpkins had been sold! So we just took pictures in the hay and with the one pumpkin we brought with us. Lesson learned: show up EARLY to pumpkin patches; don't wait until Oct. 30th.

This next picture was taken at a Halloween party in our neighborhood. Ty was a Tampa Bay Buckaneer, I was a pirate, and Colt was a Devil Ray. Guess we've assimilated to Tampa!

Have fun tonight everyone. Happy Halloween!

ACU Homecoming

Last weekend we headed home to Abilene for our 5 year college reunion and to see family. We had such a good time catching up with friends we haven't seen in a while, as well as those we see more regularly. Colt enjoyed spending time with Grandad and Grandma J and seeing some aunts and uncles. I saw several friends from high school (and was reminded that my 10 year high school reunion is next year - that makes me feel old!) and got to eat at some of my favorite restaurants (Joe Allen's BBQ and Sharon Allen's Lytle Land and Cattle). Blogging was all the rage at homecoming and I've discovered that I have several "blog-stalkers" or people who read my blog but have yet to comment. Gotta say, with all of my new readership, I guess I will have to step up the quality and excitement of my posts!
A friend recently commented that Colt is always smiling... well, not always.

We found some cool glasses laying around my sister's new apartment and had fun taking pictures with them. :)

Here's Colt in his gangster outfit. It was cold at night, so we had to bundle him up!
Kojie Breakfast
Ty's college roommates and the wives (we missed you Jay and Andy!) Ah... the Friends of Ty.
Grandad, Grandma J and Aunt Alethea at Alethea's super cool apartment, The Grove. My cutie pie
Aunt Ashley and Colt - Ashley is a freshman art major at ACU.

We had a great trip and Colt did great on all of our flights. Wish we could have stayed longer. This trip really made me miss living in Texas as I know our families don't get to see Colt as often as other grandparents who live close to their grand kids. :(

Football fever

This week we ventured outdoors into the Florida heat to watch Vince Young take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Unfortunately, Vince got hurt and the Titans ended up loosing, but we had a good time anyway. We got some sweet tickets that let us sit inside in the air conditioning or outside in the sun, so we did a little of both. They even had leather arm chairs inside that were perfect for nursing Colt! I did run into our pediatrician on the way out and felt somewhat guilty that she caught me taking my kid to an event that was probably a bit too much (crowded and hot) for a 3 month old. But, again, we had the air conditioning where we spent all but the first 2 possessions of the game and the last 3 minutes of the game. Yeah, we spent lots of money on tickets to sit inside in the cool and watch the game on tv :(
Looks like Colt is the only Dishman interested in watching the game.

I started puting Colt on top of my exercise ball and rolling him around. He loves it!

A Gymboree activity center in Tampa had its grand opening last week, so I went with a friend to check it out. Gotta say it was pretty impressive with all the classes designed to enhance children's development at specific ages. They even had a life-size Gymbo (the clown mascot) - it scared lots of the little kids :( I didn't sign up yet, because I basically do tons of sensory stimulation activities with Colt everyday, but will definitely think about joining when he gets a bit older. I think it will be more beneficial when he is able to walk around and play in/on the activity centers. My main reservation was the cost. I mean, it costs about $10 a class (one class a week which lasts for 45 minutes). That's more than my own gym membership!! I find it hard to justify this cost for an infant, especially when we just went to a one income family. But if anyone hears of any specials on membership in a few months, let me know!

Babbling bambino

Colt is glad the Yankees are out of the playoffs.
Colt has really started to talk more frequently of late. Friday night we had a prayer session with our small group at church. Well, Colt decided that was the perfect time to show off his new linguistic talents. When it was very quiet and people were praying, Colt was practicing his "ah-goo"s and "kkkk"s and "waa"s. Guess Colt likes to pray!

We also had our Bradley birth class reunion on Saturday. Colt was born 7-1, Steven on 7-3, and Brady on 7-5 (all within a week of each other)! It was a good time to see the other babies and moms and dads and our teachers. It's funny cause I've only seen the other moms when they were pregnant, and now they are skinny again. (By the way, since we moved to Tampa when I was 6 months pregnant, no one here had ever seen me not pregnant. Now when I see people, they are amazed that I am "skinny." )

Colt and Brady saying Hi!

Colt really disliked tummy time for the longest time. He still is not the biggest fan, but he is getting better. We try to do 10 minutes a day, and sometimes we have to break it up into 5 2 minute sessions.

And tummy time is over...

Just a cute picture... blowing bubbles

No fair-weather fans here!

Despite the fact that Texas lost this weekend, we are still rooting for the Longhorns here in Tampa. Colt wore his Texas outfit to church and we discovered many Texas Exes and other fans that were previously unknown. And, just so you know, Colt Dishman is NOT named after Colt McCoy. Yes, since we lived in Austin we heard the name Colt McCoy once or twice, and thought it was a classic Texan name that our kid couldn't do without.
Oops! The headband is a bit big for Colt's small head!
Mom and Colt. By the way, I WON the fantasy baseball championship!! Yeah!
Colt tried out his bumbo for the first time this week. He LOVES it! Now he can sit on the kitchen counter and watch me cook.
Colt also loves to suck on his hands. You'd think they were made of chocolate or something! He never wants to take them out of his mouth.
My cutie pie practicing posing for his upcoming 3 month photos. The photographer said if Colt is unable to maintain this pose for a while on his belly, that she'll send us home, so we've been practicing every day!
